Dr. April White, DVM

Dr. White and Dr. Swinamer met years ago as bright and shiny newly graduated veterinarians at their first veterinary jobs. Years later, when Dr. Swinamer reached out looking to hire a new veterinarian, Dr. White was thrilled, but a bit skeptical that it would work out. However, it turned out that Dr. Swinamer was actually willing to put up with the crazy schedule she needed to commute from Fishers Island, and so she jumped at the chance to move back to her childhood home and to join the Stonington Veterinary Hospital family. Now she commutes to work by boat, embracing her role as the crazy dog mom that drags her two Boston Terriers along with her every day.

Dr. White graduated from Quinnipiac University with a degree in Veterinary Technology, then went on to attend the Royal Veterinary College in London, England. Although the years spent living in the UK were amazing, allowing her the chance to travel throughout Europe, she chose to return to the states after graduation. Since graduation she has worked in Connecticut and Rhode Island in small animal veterinary hospitals. Be kind to her when the wind is blowing a gale out of the west, as those are very bad boat ride days!

Tipsy

Hospital Cat

Hi, I’m Tipsy!! I was found outside by a kind lady in November of 2025, I had a broken leg and was in pretty rough shape. My aunties, as I call them, took such great care of me and fixed me right up! I only have 3 legs now, but you’d never believe it with how fast I get around. I’m not super food motivated but if you have a feather toy or a bottle cap, I am all about that. I live here at the hospital now so If you see me running around, you can say hi – although I’ll probably run away but don’t be offended… I’m slowly learning to become more accepting of people…dogs however….. probably never!
