COVID-19 Update
Jan 1, 2022
Attention Clients, for the safety of our staff, clients and community we are going to temporarily move back to curbside only appointments while Covid cases remain high. We apologize for any inconvenience but feel it is necessary in order to continue to safely practice and care for your pets.
– Sincerely, the staff at SVH

Dear Friends and Family of Stonington Veterinary Hospital,
All of us at SVH want to thank you for your loyalty and patience over the last 18 months as we have been adjusting to meet your animals needs in this ever-changing pandemic environment. We all hope the worst is behind us. At this time, we want to take the opportunity to let you know what we plan on doing as we move forward in order to meet your pet’s needs.
As you may or may not be aware, the demand for veterinary care has skyrocketed and we are struggling like all hospitals in the area to meet our client’s needs first and then attempting to meet the needs of those new in the area looking for veterinary care. We want to assure you that we are making every attempt to meet all urgent care needs for our current clients on a same or next day basis. We are keeping appointments available every day for your more urgent problems, and we are often double, and triple booked. As such, we are booking wellness care and routine surgeries a few weeks out and ask for your continued patience and forward planning as we attempt to meet all our client’s needs.
We have almost completed our renovations at the hospital and are excited for you to see the changes we have made. We are allowing clients back into the building for appointments with their pet. We do ask that all clients entering the building continue to wear masks as some of our staff have unvaccinated high-risk children that are not old enough to receive the vaccine. When possible, we ask that only one person accompany your pet inside the hospital to keep traffic down. We have masks available at the new front door when you enter. If you wish to continue using curbside care, we will continue to offer this service, simply continue to call the front desk at 860-535-3011 and staff will take care of you.
We will continue to have medications and food pickup available when pre-paid, next to the front door.
We have launched an online pharmacy (Covetrus) and smart phone app (Petpro Connect) to allow for more efficient communication. The online pharmacy carries all the same benefit as if you purchased products from us directly. The Petpro app, if you chose to enroll on your smart phone, will allow you to access your pet’s vaccine records as well as text us for medication refills and to request appointments or ask non-urgent questions. You will also receive scheduled appointment reminders through this app. We also wanted to let you know that we actively update our website and social media pages to keep you informed of any unexpected changes in our regular schedule.
Finally, I would like to take a moment to personally thank all my coworkers who have shown unbelievable perseverance during these difficult times. As many of you are aware, I purchased the veterinary practice in Feb 2020 from Dr. Richard Willner. He stayed on to help us for the remainder of 2020 and is now happily enjoying his well-deserved retirement. Dr. April White joined us in Jan 2021 and along with Dr. Karen Quental-Brown, we are here to help. My coworkers have allowed us to stay open to be able to serve you during the entirety of this pandemic with no closures due to exposures or illness. They have shown up every day, and I can honestly say they have made every effort possible to accommodate all your pet’s needs.
We will continue to strive to provide each one of your animals the best possible care. We appreciate all your kindness and patience during this time.
Thank you,
Sonya Swinamer, DVM
